For those unfamiliar with the location, the school is set between the west shore of Lough Derg and the East Clare hills. Villages such as Scariff, Mountshannon and Ballina-Killaloe are spread around the region. Limerick city is a half an hour from the school as is the bustling town Ennis. School buses serve three routes – Killaloe-Ballina, Flagmount and Mountshannon.

Many families move to the area specifically for the school. Properties to buy or rent are to be found through Green Valley Properties or Daft. The area is great for enjoying the simple pleasures of hillwalking, fishing and sailing. The lake is home to various boating clubs including the Killaloe sailing club and the Mountshannon sailing club. The villages have a strong community spirit supporting farmer’s markets and hosting an array of festivals.
